Ronald Paul Dixon, 56, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died on Monday, July 4, 2022 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice after a long illness.

Private family services will be held. He will be laid to rest at the Rock Island National Cemetery where military honors will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Relapsing Polychondritis Foundation or PRISMS, an organization in support of those with Smith-Magenis Syndrome.

Ron was born in Barstow, California on September 22, 1965. On November 20, 1984, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. While he was stationed in the United Kingdom, he met his future wife, Karen on a blind date. They were married in Huntingdon, United Kingdom on October 2, 1993. Ron’s Air Force career spanned over 25 years and he was honorably discharged on April 30, 2010 as a Master Sergeant. His decorations and awards included the Meritorious Service Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Air Force Commendation Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Air Force Achievement Medal, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with 6 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Air Force Organizational Excellence Award, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 8 Oak Leaf Clusters, the National Defense Service Medal with 1 Service Star, the Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Air Force Overseas Ribbon with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, the Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon, the Air Force Longevity Service Medal with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Air Force NCO Graduate Ribbon with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster and the Air Force Training Ribbon. Following his military retirement, he worked as a Project Manager for the Department of Defense IT Division and did a variety of contract work for the Air Force.

Among the things Ron enjoyed were coaching T-Ball, softball and playing video games with his son. He was a avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and was deeply involved as the Iowa representative for PRISM. He was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church of Bettendorf where he was an active participant in various Bible study groups.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Karen; his son, Joshua; his daughters, Megan and Tatum; his parents, Cliff & Martha and Dave & Mary; his sisters, Peggy (Doug) Trosper of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Kelly Norman of North Liberty, Iowa; and his aunt & uncle, Mike & Betty McCollum.
