James “Jim” M. Harksen, 76, passed away unexpectedly on June 16, 2022, in Bradenton, FL. Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Weerts Funeral Home. Funeral Service will take place after visitation at 11:00 a.m., also at the funeral home. Burial services will follow at the Rock Island Arsenal Cemetery. Memorials can be made in honor of Jim to DAV (Disabled American Veterans).

Jim was born on June 13, 1946, to Martin and Dorothy Harksen in Davenport, Iowa. Jim served in the U.S. Navy from February 1967 until November 1970. He retired as an electrician from the Local Union 145. He was united in marriage to his wife Cheryl on October 4, 1996. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, bird watching and his western T.V. shows. Jim was always known for his smile “Keep smiling because life is a beautiful thing and there is so much to smile about” – Marilyn Monroe

Those left to honor his memory are his stepchildren Jeffery (Danielle) Burton and Vicky (Joe) Archer; Step-grandchildren Travis Burton, Ashly (Kyle) Long, Aaron (Brittany) Bunch, and Alexis (Fabian) Villanueva; Step-great grandchildren: Kimberly, Miah, Brody, Hudson, Kimberlynn, Paisley, Naomi, and Giovanni; Siblings: Judith (Gordon) Campell and Rebecca (Christopher) Pieper as well as his Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Cheryl, Stepdaughter Kimberly Burton, his parents Martin and Dorothy and his fur baby Breanna.
