Richard “Dick” Benson, 84, East Moline, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at his home. At Dick's request there will be no services.

Richard was born on April 8, 1938 in Moline, the son of George and Marguerite (DeJaegher) Benson. He married Mary Stephenson on October 15, 1960 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline. Prior to the closing of International Harvester, Dick worked 27 years as a Design Engineer. While at IH, he received 7 patents for his ingenuity. He then went to the Rock Island Arsenal for another 12 years. Dick enjoyed model railroads, watching NASCAR and taking day trips with his wife and the dogs.

Survivors include his wife, Mary, daughters; Kimberly Benson, Moline, and Tamera (David) Gatheright, Rock Island, grandson Caleb (Abbey) Gatheright, his brother Donald (Betty) Benson, Moline and his dog, Della.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to King's Harvest No Kill Shelter, Davenport.
