Donald F. Swensson, 86, of Moline, Illinois, died Tuesday, May 24, 2022.

DUE TO ILLNESS IN THE FAMILY, SERVICES HAVE BEEN POSTPONED ONE WEEK.

Services are now 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Visitation is 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 7. Private burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salem Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.

Donald Frederick Swensson was born June 13, 1935, in Moline, to Frederick and Nina (Swanson) Swensson. He graduated from Moline High School and Augustana College. He married Claudette Atwell on May 4, 1957, in Moline.

Don worked 29 years at John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline, retiring in 1987, and consulting until 1989. After retirement, Don worked at Trimble Funeral Home, for over 15 years.

He was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church, Moline, serving as President of the Church Council, Sunday School teacher, and the men’s work group. He was a member of Mississippi Valley Muskie Inc., Doric Lodge #319, AF & AM, Jaycees of the Quad Cities, Quad City Conservation Alliance, John Deere Retirees, and AARP. He also was a Junior Achievement advisor, Boy Scout scout master, and served on the advisory board to the Illinois Department of Conservation for eight years.

Don enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, and making fishing lures. He coached his daughters’ softball teams.

Don is survived by his loving wife of over 65 years, Claudette; daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Michael Locander of Moline; two granddaughters, Janey and Alison Locander; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karla Swensson Brandt on March 27, 1987; a daughter in infancy; a brother, Ronald Swensson; and a sister, Janet Larsen.
