OBITUARY
Arthur J. Sullivan III, a proud veteran of the United States Armed Forces, passed away suddenly at his home in Big Rapids, MI on May 28, 2022 at the age of 65.
Arthur was born in Newark, NJ to Arthur and Ruth (Stevens) Sullivan in 1957. He was the eldest of four children. Arthur lived with his parents and siblings in Warwick, NY. He attended school and graduated from S.S. Seward Institute in Florida, NY in 1975.
In 1978 Arthur enlisted in the US Air Force. His primary specialty during his service was Education and Training. In addition to his military training and education, Arthur graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He received numerous honors, awards, medals throughout his military career. Arthur attained the rank of Senior Master Sergeant and retired in 2005 with 27 years of service. Arthur continued his public service with the Department of the Army as a civilian employee for an additional 10 years and retired in 2015.
Arthur was a wonderful husband and father. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for his family.
In his younger years he enjoyed playing soccer and baseball. Arthur loved gaming on his computer, was a voracious reader, and loved spending time with his beloved cats and little dog.
Arthur was preceded in death by his father Arthur. He is survived by his wife Michele, his mother Ruth of Peru, IN, his son Michael Warlock of Charleston, SC; his step-daughters Erika Speck of Big Rapids, MI, Nicole Davison of Davenport, IA, Ashley (Kendall) Preston of Eldridge, IA; step-son Zan (Susan) Preston of Iowa City, IA, his brother John of Peru, IN; his sisters Barbara (Gary) Griffith of Delta Junction, AK and Maureen Tesone of Elwood City, PA, his granddaughter Alexa, five step-grandchildren: Hunter, Preston, Grace, Sawyer & Henry, his mother and father-in-law Pat & Dan Weston of Casnovia, MI; sisters-in-law: Leanne (Bob) Souter of Sparta, MI, Jackie (Brian) Bennitt of Grant, MI, Dionne (Jeff) Berenbrock of Kent City, MI; several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Hershey.
Per Arthur's wishes, cremation rites have taken place. The family will be holding a Celebration of Arthur's Life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project in honor of Arthur.
