Charlie was born January 15, 1941 in Whitestown, Indiana, one of 16 children of S. Loris and Violet (Garland) McClaine. He attended schools in Whitestown. Charlie started his career as a truck driver for DeCap’s Trucking. He then became a heavy equipment operator for the Midwest Operating Engineers Local 150, District 8. He married Lynn Cutler Fish on September 8, 1969 in Rock Island, IL.
Charlie loved Nascar racing and racing at local dirt tracks. He was happiest surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He was a member of Just An ‘Ol Truck Club. He absolutely loved to keep busy working around the home and yard. He was likely most known for his sense of humor and making many people laugh over the years. This sometimes was a challenge for his wife, but she loved him unconditionally. His Thursday visits to Hooters with the guys was a highlight of his retirement years.
Charlie is survived by his wife Lynn, Port Byron; children, Charles, Jr. “Bug” McClaine (Sarah Simmons), IL, Vicki Heyvaert, IL, Charlene Foster, FL, Melissa (Paul) Corken, IL, Lori Graham, IL, Derrick (Stephanie) Fish, FL, Andy (Julie) Fish, FL, Rhonda (Dr. Dennis) Gourley, HI, Pamela (George) Medas, OH, Charlotte (Tom) Pier, OH; sister, Catherine Maxwell, IN; brothers, Larry, Harold, Michael and Samuel McClaine of Indiana and Thomas McClaine of Iowa; 32 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren; He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Tim Heyvaert; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Fish; 6 sisters and 5 brothers.
