James F. Lovett (1929-2022)

James Frank Lovett, 93, died Monday, May 23, 2022. After living most of his life in Cedar Rapids, James recently moved to Eldridge, Iowa, to be closer to family. Private family memorial service will be at a later date. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Jim was born March 3, 1929, the son of Oscar and Rosa (Reiman) Lovett, in St. Joseph, Missouri. He completed his business degree from The University of Iowa, class of 1952, and remained an avid Hawkeye fan for life. On June 7, 1952, Jim was married to Ramona (Stephen). The couple first met on a blind date arranged by a common friend. As a youth, Jim was active in Boy Scouts of America, earning his Eagle Scout Award. He continued his love of nature while camping, fishing, and birding with family. Jim started his career in sales with Letterhead and Check Corporation of America and retired from LeFebure Corporation in 1991. Jim was honored for 50+ years of membership and service in Theta Xi Fraternity, Mount Herman Masonic Lodge, and Kenwood Park/ Echo Hill Presbyterian Church. His greatest pride was his family and his roles as husband, dad, grandpa, and great- grandpa.

Survivors include two daughters, Laura (Bruce) Fisher of Monmouth, Iowa, and Suzanne (Craig) Sorensen of Eldridge, Iowa; son-in-law Allan King: seven grandsons, Nathan (Rebecca) King, Justin King, Jesse (Samantha) Fisher, Cody (Kimberly) Fisher, Mason Fisher, Nicholas (Clair) Sorensen, and Stephen Sorensen, eight great-grandchildren, Molly, Alison, Madeline, Logan, Riley, Marlowe, Elliott, and Cole; brother-in law F. Gerald Stephen and four nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona, his daughter, Jennifer King, his sister, Marjorie (Lovett) Fisher.

The family thanks the caring staff at Meals on Wheels, Grand Haven Retirement Community and Heartland Hospice.
