Obituary of Sandra Huffman

Sandra began her life’s journey in Sterling, Illinois on June 1st, 1941. Growing up locally, she worked a variety of jobs as a teenager at the Sterling and State theaters. After graduating from Sterling High School in 1959, she moved to Lanikai, Hawaii and married her High School sweetheart Carl where he was serving in the US Marine Corp. They lived in Hawaii for the first year of their 63-year marriage and then returned to Sterling.

Sandra’s greatest joy was being a wife and mother. As a stay at home Mom, Sandra was a wonderful homemaker and mother of five children and she regularly attended church services and bible studies. Sandra had a servant’s heart and always looked for opportunities to help others. One of her many community service efforts was to volunteer as a member of the Women’s Auxiliary at CGH. Her nurturing nature was beautifully expressed in her life’s passion, growing flowers. She was an exceptional Gardner.

Sandra passed away on Tuesday May 17th at the age of 80. Her celebration of life ceremony will be Thursday May 19th at Schilling Funeral home in Sterling.

Visitation 12:30-1:30pm, Funeral 1:30-2:15pm with Pastor Paul Sheley of Oneighty Church officiating. Graveside service and burial will be held at Oak Knoll Memorial Park immediately following the service.
