August Timmerman, 85, of New Liberty, died Saturday in Mercy hospital, Davenport.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Patrick's Catholic church in Big Rock. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Timmerman was born on May 5, 1884 in Belgium to Louis and Sophia Herman. He married Veronica Vlaeminck on Feb. 17, 1909 in Belgium and came to the United States in 1910. His wife died in December 1969.

Survivors include two sons, Julius of New Liberty and Leon of Bennett; three daughters, Mrs. Joe Goethals and Mrs. Charles Goethals, both of New Liberty and Mrs. Alice Caes of Stockton; 29 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren, a brother, Leopold of Moline and a sister, Sophia Lybaert of Belgium.
