Donald A. Cox

December 14, 1929-November 25, 2021

Donald A. Cox, 91, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at Manor Care – Utica Ridge. A visitation will be held on Monday December 6th from 5-7pm at Weerts Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, December 7th at 11am at Weerts Funeral Home. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park following the service. Memorials in Donald's name may be made to Boys Town or to the Alzheimer's Association.

Donald was born on December 14, 1929 to George and Marjorie Cox in Sylvania, Ohio. He received his Bachelor's degree in Engineering and worked for the Department of the Army as a civilian employee for 35 years. He retired from the Rock Island Arsenal in 1991. Donald was united in marriage to Marie Clark on July 30, 1949; she preceded him in death. Donald was a member of the American Ordinance Association and served on the Berkey, Ohio Volunteer Fire Department. Family was very important to Donald and he greatly enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren play and grow. He coached girls' softball, was active with the Boy Scouts, loved to go bowling, and was a tropical fish hobbyist.

Those left to honor his memory are his children: Paul (Donna) Cox, Diane (Dennis) Bright, Robert (Vicki) Cox, Carol (James) Glines, Douglas (Linda) Cox, Walter (Sandra) Cox, Cynthia (Donald) Walton, Beverly (Eugene) Case, Patricia Darland, and Marcia (Bryon) Mirocha; 27 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and siblings Carolyn Reber, Larry (Selma) Cox, Linda (Edward) Burge, Kathryn (James) Morris and sister-in-law Charlie Cox. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie, his parents, his brothers Thomas Cox and George Cox, Jr, brother-in- law Clark Reber and granddaughter Tonya Ward.
