Obituary of Dwight R. Schroeder
Dwight R. Schroeder, 74, of Montpelier, Iowa passed away at the Genesis East Hospital on Thursday, November 18, 2021. Visitation will be held between 4:00-7:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at the Runge Mortuary and Crematory. Memorials may be made to the family.

Dwight was born on May 6, 1947 in Davenport, Iowa to Jerald and Laura Schroeder. He joined the Montpelier Volunteer Fire Department in 1963. He retired from there in 2008. Dwight worked for Oscar Meyer before working for Umthun (now Decker) Trucking Company. He retired in 2009.

He joined the Navy after high school in 1966. He served on the USS Bennington during Vietnam before finishing his enlistment in 1970. He was united in marriage to Nancy Schroeder on June 8, 1973. They were wed for 47 years and had 3 children.

He was a lifetime member of the American Legion in Bluegrass. Dwight enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, Deja, joining friends for breakfast frequently at Clark's Restaurant, gardening, hunting, racing, cars, and lawn care for himself and fellow neighbors. Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Tami Schroeder and William Schroeder; and granddaughter, Deja Doak.

Dwight is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy L. Schroeder (Sanders); his parents, Jerald and Laura Schroeder; his daughter, Wendy Schroeder; and granddaughter, Andreah Schroeder.
