Rev. Daniel M. Buck, October 12, 1932, to November 26, 2021, lived a life of quiet service to uplift those around him. Born the son of a Methodist minister, he lived in various communities across Central Illinois with his parents, Samuel and Eudora Buck. He graduated from Pana High School, Cornell College, and Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary. It was at Cornell that he met Dorothea Koerner. They married in 1955 and served their own collection of Methodist churches for the next forty years. Together they raised six children -- Eunice, Tommy, Joe, Carolyn, Andy, and Dennis -- who brought into the family five beloved sons- and -daughters-in-law -- Gerard, Sue, Dennis, Dan, and Heather -- six grandkids -- Rose, Sam (Nikki), Jon (Aimee), Sarah (Dennis), Peyton, and Parker -- and two great-grandchildren -- Tucker and Addi.

In retirement he lived in Davenport and pursued wide-ranging interests, including camping, canoeing, hiking, gardening, and biking, riding a 500-mile bike ride in support of Habitat for Humanity several times. For many years, he could be seen daily walking in his neighborhood and local parks to pick up trash. He used the same quiet approach to support music, arts, education, and charities that brighten corners of the world.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Bernice and Sam; and son Tommy.

A memorial service will be held on December 28, 2021at 2:00 P.M. in the afternoon at Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church in Moline, Illinois with fellowship time to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Preacher’s Aid Society, P.O. Box 19207, Springfield, IL 62794-9207.
