Barbara H. McGrath, 91, of Rock Island passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Iowa Masonic Health Facilities, Bettendorf.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, November 8, 2021 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am Monday at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

She was born on August 7, 1930 in Taylorville, Illinois to George and Mary (Morrissey) Kerwin, but lived most of her life in Rock Island.

Barb retired from the Rock Island Arsenal where she worked for many years as a Military Personnel Specialist, retiring as a GS12 rank, which, at the time, was the highest rank as a civilian. She previously worked as a secretary at St. Anthony’s School of Nursing and the power company. She enjoyed playing Euchre and Cribbage as well as spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Rick (Laurie) McGrath; daughter, Sue (Eldon) Sambdman; grandchildren, Chris (Julie) Sambdman, Josh (Hannah Sciurbo) Sambdman, Celina (Charlie Nermyr) McGrath, Chris (Janie) Hickey and Jay (Rebekah) Hickey; great-granddaughter, Naoko Sambdman; sister-in-law, Charlene and several nieces, with a special thank you to Linda and Jessica.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters-in-law, George (Marie), Charles (Carol), Floyd, Leo, Vincent and Russell Kerwin and nephew; Charles Vernon Kerwin.
