Verna Lenora Hamann passed away peacefully on October 30, 2021, six weeks short of her 99th birthday, surrounded by her family, in the home built by her husband 70 years ago. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00pm on Friday, November 5, 2021 at the Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be held two hours prior. Memorials can be made to Genesis Hospice, Bettendorf or St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport, Iowa. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.

She was born December 15, 1922, in Davenport, to Clara (Jacobsen) and Louis Nagel. She is survived by children, Donald, Barbara (Steve DeReus), John, and Roger; six grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Nancy Brown; and fourteen nieces and nephews.

She and Bob Hamann were married October 20, 1946 in the Grinnell College Chapel. They had been married 62 years when he passed away.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Robert; sister, Janet Kuttler; brother, Leon Nagel; and several sisters- and brothers-in-law.

She graduated from Davenport High School in January 1941 and was a bookkeeper and secretary at Ordnance Steel, Schierbrock Motors, Baxter Motors, Riepe Insurance, and Iowa East Central T.R.A.I.N. While raising her four children, she was a housewife.

Verna was a member of Northwest Turners and a long time, active member of the YMCA. She belonged to St. Paul Lutheran Church and the German-American Society.

She was a big fan of the group The Night People, Lawrence Welk, Café D'Marie, and President Trump.
