JOHN BEILSTEIN
Davenport – Services for John Newman “Jack” Beilstein, 79, of Davenport, will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Christ the King Chapel, St. Ambrose University, Davenport. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Davenport American Legion Post 26.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at Halligan-McCabe Funeral Home, Davenport, with a rosary recited at 7:30 p.m.

Mr. Beilstein died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 1996, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport.

He was a retired lumber broker.

He was born Feb. 5, 1917, in Marengo, Iowa. He married Virginia Green in 1942 in Hobbs, N.M. She died May 26.

During World War II, he served as a first lieutenant in the Army Air Corps. He was a bombardier with the 379th in Europe.

Memorials may be made to St. Ambrose University.

Survivors include a daughter, Diane Beilstein, Davenport; a son, Peter, Ankeny, Iowa; and six grandchildren.
