Freddie M. Sumpter, 85, of Davenport, IA passed away of Friday, August 6, 2021 at his home surrounded by family. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from 5-7pm at Weerts Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 10am at Weerts Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorials in Freddie’s name maybe made to the family. Those in attendance are asked to wear their favorite Chicago Cubs, Bears, or Iowa Hawkeye gear.

Freddie was born on February 18, 1936 to Fred and Josephine Sumpter in Centerville, IA. He was united in marriage to Beverly Hann in February of 1954; she passed away in 1987. Freddie later married Judith Hildebrant on July 13, 1991 in Davenport, Iowa. He worked for Farmall for 30 years before he retired. Freddie loved to watch stock car races along with the Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Iowa Hawkeyes. He enjoyed playing cards, watching court shows, and reading his Sunday paper. Freddie was a big food lover and enjoyed going out to eat at the Family Square Restaurant. He had a loving personality and will be missed by everyone.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife of 30 years, Judy; his children Rhonda (Todd), Christine, Sheila, and Lisa (Al); stepchildren: Maureen (Steve), Darrell (Betty), Greg, and Terry (Jeanine); and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Beverly, daughter Dana, son Raymond, granddaughter Rhonda Jo; great-granddaughter JaLynn, his parents, and his siblings Raymond, Marie, and Josephine.
