Obituary for Mary Alice Buckner
Mary Alice Buckner, 94, of Grand Island, passed away May 5, 2021 at Tiffany Square Care Center.

Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 10:30am at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Father Joseph Broudou officiating. Masks will be required and all current health directives will be followed. The service will be livestreamed on the church’s Facebook page. Visitation will be held Monday, May 10, 2021 from 5:00pm-7:00pm with a Rosary following at 7:00pm at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Memorials suggested to the Grand Island Public Library. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

She was born April 28, 1927 in Grand Island to Jacinto and Isabel Aguilar. She grew up in Grand Island and attended St. Mary’s School. She worked at the egg plant, the Army Ammunition factory, The Nebraska Veterans Home, Knickrehm Elementary School in food service, cleaned offices and took great pride in all her jobs she held. She was hardworking and dedicated and continued to work until the age of 90 at the GI Public Library. She was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral, the Eagle’s Club and volunteered at the Salvation Army. She was always cooking and made the best homemade Mexican food, especially her tortillas, for anyone who visited. She enjoyed bowling, dancing, her brother “Bears” music, western movies and Judge Judy. She loved watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports or other activities and her other passion was Husker Football.

Survived by children, Pat Arellano, Paul (Donna) Arellano, Yvonne Mokros and Steve Buckner (former spouse, Kim Mettenbrink); grandchildren, Ronnie Ryan, Jeanie Daniels, Eddie Arellano, Jeremiah Krzycki, Carl Mokros, Calvin Mokros, Eric Buckner, Stacia (Chris) Rice and Devin Buckner; great grandchildren; granddaughter in-law, Amy Maher; sisters, Ginger Arvizo and Esther Perales and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Peggy Buckner; grandsons, Jeremy Buckner and Rick Arellano and her Aguilar brothers and sisters. Condolences can be left at www.livson.com
