Helen L. Pethoud, 85, of Blue Grass, IA passed away on July 6, 2021 at her home. Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 from 10am-12pm at Weerts Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at 1pm at Blue Grass Cemetery. Memorials in Helen’s name may be made to the family.

Helen was born on August 27, 1935 to Harry and Corinne Young in Beatrice, Nebraska. She was united in marriage to Hubert Pethoud on June 6, 1954 in Ellis, Nebraska; he preceded her in death. The family relocated a few times, to Colorado, back to Nebraska and finally to Iowa where they have resided since 1969. Helen proudly supported the local youth athletics and the Boy Scouts. She loved to have picnics in the park and watch sports on TV, especially the Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs, and the Chicago Bears. Helen also enjoyed spending time out in the garden and working on the yard. Most of all she loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those left to honor Helen’s memory are her four sons: Steven (Barbara), Thomas (Kay), William (Dianne) and Jeffrey (Julie); 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two brothers, Harry (Joanne) Young and James “Jim” (Elna) Young, many nieces and nephews, and numerous friends.
