Harry Elam Hamilton, Jr.

June 18, 1930-May 21, 2021

GENESEO-Harry Elam Hamilton, Jr., 90, formerly of Geneseo, died Friday, May 21, 2021, in Bishop Gadsden Episcopal Retirement Community, Charleston, SC.

Services are 11 AM Friday, at Trimble Funeral Home, 701 12th Street, Moline, with Fr. Dustin Fecht officiating. Visitation is one hour before the services. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens. A luncheon at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe will follow the burial. Memorials may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Harry (Bob) was born June 18, 1930, to Harry E. Sr. and Charlie-Etta (Foster) Hamilton. He married Myrna Robyt DeBlock on August 4, 1967, in Rock Island. Myrna preceded him in death on November 1, 1987. Harry graduated from high school in Pamplin, VA and Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, VA. He served in the US Army in Korea, earning two bronze battle stars. He was an engineer with John Deere for 24 years, retiring in 1988. Harry was active in the Masonic fraternity. He was a member of Stuart Lodge #92, AF & AM, Geneseo, and Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Moline, where he was a 33rd Degree Mason and past Commander-in-Chief and served as Corporate Secretary for several years. He enjoyed gardening, reading, and family genealogy.

Harry is survived by children and spouses, Brenda Hamilton of San Jose, California, Stephanie and Chuck Schneider of Plano, Illinois, Steve and Stephanie Hamilton of North Liberty, Iowa, Melissa and Mike Chapman of Geneseo, and five grandchildren, Joshua Schneider, Ashleigh Schneider, Tenley Hamilton, Ross Chapman, and Savannah Chapman. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Grace Fingerson and H. Foster Hamilton.

The family would like to thank the staff at Bishop Gadsden for the wonderful care and support they provided to Harry and his family.
