DAVENPORT-Joseph Janicki Jr., 86, of Davenport, IA, passed away Monday, May 24, 2021. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26, at the Runge Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 27, at Berean Baptist Church, Davenport. He will be laid to rest at later date in the Rock Island National Cemetery. Joseph was born October 6, 1934, in Fall River, MA, to Joseph Sr. and Edith (Primo) Janicki. He spent 22 years of his life proudly serving his country. First, he spent 4 years serving in the U.S. Air Force and then, 18 years in the U.S. Army. He fought in the Korean War and also the Vietnam War. On July 4, 1992, Joe married Kathleen Stewart. They enjoyed 7 years of marriage until her passing in 1999. Joe spent 16 years working at the Rock Island Arsenal until his retirement in 1997.

Joe was a devoted member of Berean Baptist Church and never missed a service. He enjoyed coin collecting, woodworking, model trains, and most of all spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children: Susan Ledkins, Cynthia Martin, Brenda Fogel, and Jim (Kim) Fogel; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and his sister, Barbara Torres.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sister, Shirley Gayoski.
