Obituary
John H. Christner, 52, of Rock Island, died Saturday, May 8, 2021 at home. Cremation rites were accorded. A celebration of life service will be 11:30 am Friday, May 14, 2021 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Visitation will be from 9 – 11:30 am Friday, May 14 at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Davenport, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of the family.

John was born in Davenport, Iowa on September 11, 1968, a son of Howard and Frances Murphy Christner.

John was a very skilled tree climber and worked for several tree companies in the Quad Cities. He was also a skilled mechanic who enjoyed working and tinkering on just about anything. John was a jokester, enjoyed listening to music and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Brittani (Cory) VanZuiden, Colona, Ashley Christner, Davenport and Kathleen Fisher, Georgia; grandchildren, Cason Gheer and Jace Morse; siblings, Liz (Jim) Preston, Arizona, Molly (Ray) Manzo, Arizona and Tony (Lacy) Christner, Park View, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, James Christner and sister, Janet Kaiser.
