Christ Mortensen, 82, died June 16 at Marquette Heights in Davenport of a lingering illness.

He was born Sept. 12, 1883, in Denmark. He came to the United States at 28 and took up residence in Durant. He married Oline Olsen Oct. 17, 1912 in Davenport. The couple farmed south of Durant until retiring in 1953.

Survivors include 1 son, Leroy, of Durant; 1 daughter, Mrs. Carl (Ann) Burkamper of Davenport; 1 sister in Denmark; 8 grandchildren; and 2 greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and two brothers.

Funeral services were held June 18 in Durant with the Rev. James Barton of St. Paul's Episcopal church officiating. Interment was at the Durant cemetery.
