Paul Duane McClaflin, 78, of Bettendorf, IA, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021, in Scott County Park beginning at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made in his honor to a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.

Paul was born May 25, 1942, to Glen and Georgia (Wilson) McClaflin in Runnells, IA. On July 1, 1961, he married Janice Smith in Des Moines, IA. Paul always loved to stay busy working. He first started laboring at a lumberyard in Des Moines where he eventually became a salesman, transferred to Bettendorf, IA, and managed multiple lumberyards. In 1988, he opened his own Truss Manufacturing Company and retired from it in 2009. In retirement, Paul kept himself busy maintaining rental properties. He was known for his ability to fix anything and was an accomplished carpenter.

Paul was very close to his large family and looked forward to yearly reunions. In the last few years he had reached out to every family member to encourage their attendance at the reunions.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Janice McClaflin; children, Michelle (Paul) Gheer and Mitchell McClaflin; grandchildren, Caitlin McClaflin and Tessa Ackerland; siblings, Frances (Tom) King, Jim (Bonnie) McClaflin, and Rex (Julie) McClaflin; sisters-in-law, Marie McClaflin and Ida Carpenter; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dean, John and Bill; and sisters, Doris and Ramona.
