Harry was born on Jan. 4, 1932, in Reed, Ky., the son of Leonard and Wyatt Josephine (Bennett) Heppler. He joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean conflict. Following his military obligation, he attended Evansville College and earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. On Aug. 20, 1955, he was united in marriage to Peggy E. He enjoyed helping his son-in-law farm, traveling, taking vacations, and could always be found behind the camera videotaping his family. Harry always had a hug for anyone he met, and was always willing to lend a hand or helpful advice. He was known for his wit while hosting retirement roasts for his fellow Alcoa retirees, and for his outgoing personality. Harry was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a member of the Quad City Video Club, Alcoa Retirees Club, and Asbury United Methodist Church, where he served as an usher for many years.
