DAVENPORT-Josephine "Jo" Tomsha-Gravert, 87, of Davenport, passed away Monday, December 28, 2020, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, with family at her side. Due to the current health crisis, private funeral will be held with burial at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport assisted with arrangements.

Josephine Cruz was born March 28, 1933 in LaSalle, Illinois, to Rafael and Mary (Hernandez) Cruz. She was married to Donald Tomsha. He preceded her in death in 1986. Jo married Leo Gravert, June 18, 1988. They have celebrated 32 years of marriage.

She worked as an assembler at the former J.I. Case for many years and was also a childcare provider for over 15 years.

Jo was an avid bowler for over 50 years. She loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in school events and compete in all of their sports endeavors. She cherished her snow-bird travel to Zamora, Mexico for many years with her husband.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.

Survivors include her husband, Leo, Davenport; their children: Tony (Mary) Tomsha, and Kathleen Maus, all of Davenport; Michael Tomsha, Bettendorf; Patricia (Lawrence) Nemec, and Jennifer (Mark) Villinis all of Davenport; stepchildren: Michael Gravert, Davenport, Dee (Ken) Scheib, Bettendorf; and Michele Gravert, Davenport; daughter-in-law, Kathy Tomsha; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; siblings: Connie Diamond, Sue (Mel) Jordan, and Sandy Cruz all of Illinois; Annie (Bob) Downie, Mesa, Arizona; Mary Ellen (Mike) Schneider, Delores (Wayne) Acuncius, John (Kris) Cruz and Tony (Joyce) Cruz, all of Illinois and Tommy (Carrie) Cruz, Mesa, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, granddaughter, Madison; son-in-law, David Maus; sister, Lupe Sanchez, sister-in-law, Jan Tomsha, and brothers, Frank and Louis Cruz.
