William “Bill” E. Puck, 88, of Davenport, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, Dec. 21, 2020. A gathering to celebrate Bill’s life will be held at a later date.

Bill was born on March 2, 1932, in Davenport, to William and Charlotte Puck. After high school, he served in the United States Army before returning home to the family farm. In 1959 he married his beloved wife of 61 years, Marilyn Holdorf, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Bill was a 4th generation farmer on a Century Farm in Scott County and always enjoyed agriculture. He also worked 22 successful years in sales for S/M Service Company (FS) before farming full-time. Bill remained active throughout his life serving in numerous capacities in civic and business organizations. These included Blue Grass Savings Bank director, North Scott Rotarian, president and director for American Mutual Insurance Association, chairman of the Scott County Farm Service Agency, treasurer of Scott County Corn Growers Association, director of the German American Heritage Center, director of Scott County Farm Bureau, American Legion member and a member of the Outing Club. He was also a longtime member and volunteer at St. Paul Lutheran Church and had a strong faith in Christ. Bill always valued family bonds and loved his wife, children, grandchildren and extended family.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Marilyn; children: Wendi (Michael) Henning, Daniel (Jody) Puck, and David (Dawn) Puck; grandchildren: Curtis, Grant, Eric, Ryan, Aron, Dylan, and Meredith; and his sister Elaine Kuehl. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and a brother.
