BLUE GRASS, IA-William Edward Ehrecke, Jr., age 92, of Blue Grass, Iowa, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020, at Courtyard Estates of Walcott. A private family funeral service will be held. Burial will take place in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Bill's grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. A Celebration of Life Memorial Mass will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew Catholic Church, Blue Grass or a charity of the donors choice. Condolences may be left at www.bentleyfuneralhome.com

Bill was born in Muscatine, Iowa on March 9, 1928, son of William and Marie (Springmeier) Ehrecke, Sr. He graduated from St. Ambrose Academy with the Class of 1945. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He married Carol F. DePorter at St. Ambrose Catholic Church on October 31, 1953 in Milan, IL.

Bill farmed his entire life on the family farm west of Blue Grass, retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, where he was active with the Knights of Columbus. Bill was also a member of Walcott Community Club. He enjoyed playing cards, especially Euchre and Pitch. He also volunteered as a reading aide to children at the Blue Grass Elementary School.

Bill is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of over 67 years, Carol; and their children, Dean (Cindy) Ehrecke of Bettendorf, Mark (Nancy) Ehrecke of Davenport, Gary (Kevin) Ehrecke of North Richland Hills, Texas, Alan (Debra) Ehrecke of Blue Grass; and son-law, Paul (Katy) Herrig of Muscatine; twelve grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a brother, Vernon Ehrecke of Davenport.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Joan Herrig; and brothers, Paul, Harold, Kenneth, Eugene and Warren Ehrecke.
