July 12, 1931 - December 16, 2020
Granite City, Illinois - Arthur C. Stawar, 89 of Granite City passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at St. Louis University Hospital.
Arthur was born on July 12, 1931 in Madison, IL; the son of the late Chester and Irene (Forys) Stawar. Arthur was an electrician for Common Wealth Steel and had also worked for the national park service at the St. Louis Arch. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and proudly served his country in the United States Army. Arthur was a lifelong musician, he was in the Army Band while stationed in Okinawa, played many years in local dance bands and was a founding member of the Granite City Municipal Band. In his free time Arthur enjoyed his days spending time with his family and will be remembered for all the special times they shared together.
Arthur is survived by and will be missed by his wife; Lorraine (Knezevich) Stawar, whom he married on September 13, 1952; his children, Alan and Tami Stawar of Bloomsdale, MO, Karen and Mark Boyer of Jefferson City, MO, Connie Boucher of Murphysboro, IL, Karla Priebe of Granite City; grandchildren, Emily Ratliff, Sarah Aubuchon, Jamie Parsons, Adam Boyer, Amanda Schubert, Kastle Priebe, Chapel, Priebe; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Ratliff, Nate Ratliff, Wyatt Aubuchon, Isabel Parsons, Jackson Stoner; sisters, Jenny York and Stephanie Schade and many other close family members and friends.
According to Arthur and the family's wishes, Arthur will be cremated. Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City is serving the family.
