Memorial services to celebrate the life of Richard L. "Dick" Brown, 88, a resident of Davenport will be 12 pm. Thursday, April 20, 2017 in the All Faith Chapel at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, downtown Davenport. Inurnment will be in Davenport Memorial Park. The family will greet friends Thursday at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
Mr. Brown died Monday, April 17, 2017 at his residence in Davenport. He was surrounded by his family and passed away following an extended illness.
Richard LeRoy Brown was born Feb. 6, 1929 in Dixon, Illinois, a son of William L. and Mary E. (Duncan) Brown. He graduated from Numa High School.
He was united in marriage to Albena K. Pauletti on April 22, 1950 in Numa, Iowa. They have been blessed with nearly 67 years of marriage. He was a general supervisor at Alcoa Aluminum Company, retiring in 1985 after 32 years of service.
Dick enjoyed hunting and fishing, and had been a master gardener. He also enjoyed playing golf. Dick had the privilege of having many good friends; he especially cherished his friendship with Louie "brother" from down south and John and Max. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Alcoa Retirees Club, Plus 60 and the NRA.
Memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church and Genesis Hospice.
Those left to honor Dick's memory include his wife, Albena, Davenport; children, Richard J. (Jo Ellen) Brown, Charlotte, North Carolina, and Ann (Michael) Salter, Bettendorf; a daughter-in-law, Beth Brown, Egan, Minn.; and nine grandchildren, Michael (Erica) Brown, Amy Brown, Joseph (Brooke) Brown, Christina (Matt) Dobratz, Sean Salter, Ali Salter, Tony Brown, Nick Brown, and Erin Brown; and a great-grandson, Ethan Brown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Mark and a brother, William Brummett. May they rest in peace.
