Funeral services for James A. Colby, 34, Walcott, were held Tuesday in St. Mary's Catholic church, Wilton Junction. Burial was in the Walcott cemetery.
Mr. Colby died Jan. 2 at Mercy hospital in Davenport following a brief illness.
Born in Hawarden, he was married to the former Mary Louise Duffe of Davenport.
He owned and operated a photography studio in Walcott since 1948 and was a member of the Quint-City Photographers Group, the Professional Photographers Association of America, and the Professional Photographers Association of Iowa.
He served as Walcott fire chief and was a past president of the Scott County Volunteer Firemen's association. He served with the air force in Korea and was a member of the Walcott American Legion Post 548, the Walcott Business Men's club, the Walcott Plan and Zone committee, and the Iowa Planning association. He had served as cub master of the Webelows for 3 years.
Surviving are his wife; daughters, Debra, Janine, Susan and Nancy, and a son, Kevin, all at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James H. Coby, and a brother, Dennis Colby, all of Walcott, and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Susie Heald of Hawarden. His father is the Davenport Times-Democrat farm editor.
