August J. Bangert, 80, died at 1 p.m. July 30 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Robert Walker, Durant.

The son of John and Catherine Schultz Bangert, he was born April 18, 1882, at Scott county. Mr. Bangert resided in the Wilton Junction area all his life.

He married Alma Dohrmann March 23, 1904, at Davenport. Mr. Bangert was of the Lutheran faith.

Survivors include 5 daughters, Mrs. Herbert (Florence) Harmsen, Davenport; Mrs. Allen (Gertrude) Otto, Durant; Mrs. Elmer (Ima) Makoben, Durant; Mrs. Robert (Genevieve) Walker, Durant; and Mrs. Robert (Patricia) Ormsby, Davenport; one brother, Henry Bangert, Durant; 3 sisters, Mrs. Anna Lehms, Durant; Mrs. Clara Jost, Durant; and Mrs. Lena Teufel, Davenport; 25 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Bangert was preceded in death by his wife, one daughter, and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Griffith Funeral home at Wilton Junction with the Rev. James L. Carlson officiating.

Burial will be at the Durant cemetery.
