DAVENPORT — Funeral services for Milton C. Beck, 89, of Davenport, will be held at 6:30 p.m. today at the Cunnick-Collins Mortuary Chape, Davenport. Masonic rites will be provided by the Davenport Masonic Lodge 37. The family will greet friends from 4 p.m. until service time at the mortuary. A private burial will be held at a later date at Davenport Memorial Park. Mr. Beck died on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at Genesis Medical Center-East Rusholme Street, Davenport.

Milton was born in the town of Gloversville in upper New York State on October 11, 1928, the son of Lansing and Bertha (Ruff) Beck, He attended public schools, graduating from Gloversville High School in 1947. While in high school, he became a charter member of the New York Militia. From 1945 to 1947, he continued service to his country in the New York National Guard and from 1947 to 1955, he served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. His active duty also included service in Japan as a member of the 62nd TCS and also stateside in San Angelo, Texas.

Milton met Shirley Mae Williams in Davenport and they were married on February 6, 1954. They were blessed with two son, Robert and Richard. Shirley preceded Milton in death in November 2002. He later married his good friend and Leisure Lake neighbor, Margaret M. Douglas, in May 2005.

Milton lived his adult life in Davenport. He began his career as a sales representative in automotive parts in 1955, retiring in 2003 from the Service Automotive Warehouse after 48 years. During his career, he received many awards for outstanding sales and salesmanship.

Milton was a 32 Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. He was a member of Davenport Lodge 37, Mohassan Grotto, Kaaba Shrine, Buffalo Bill Club, Davenport Consistory and Clan 103. He also was a member and past commander of the Legion of Honor, president of the Kaaba Dad's Club, secretary of the High Twelve Club and an active hospital driver. He was a life member of the American Legion, VFW, AARP and CASI, and was a member of the Leisure Lake Property Owners Association and St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport.

In his retirement, Milton enjoyed being a hospital driver, transporting children and families to the Shriners Hospital. He enjoyed several hobbies including wood working, fishing, and trips to see his sisters in Gloversville, N.Y.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Beck of Davenport; a son, Richard Beck of Georgia; step-daughters, Jean Jackson of Dubuque, Kristie (Nick) Douglas of Dubuque, Maryjo (Douglas) Zunk of Scottsdale, Ariz.; sisters, Bettye (Al) Maidment, Helen (Harry) Wickscell, both of Gloversville, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Zack, Sarah, Elizabeth; nine step-grandchildren, Michael (Roxanne), Aaron (Alisha), Kirby (Ashley), Loegin, Ethan, Karrigan, Ben, Daniel, Vicky; and four step-greatgrandchildren.

In addition to his parents and first wife, Shirley, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert, and a brother, Robert, killed in WWII.

Milton will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
