Quad-city Times Henry Bornhoeft, one of Scott county's oldest and most respected citzens, was called to rest at 1 o'clock this morning , age 87 years, 11 months and 26 days. The deceased was born Jan 15,1823 on the Estate of Borghorst by Gettorf, Province of Schleswig, Germany, where he grew to manhood and learned his trade as shoemaker. He left the old country by way of Hamburg during the year of 1847, arriving in New York Oct 17 of the same year. He resided there for about six years, leaving Jul 15, 1855 for Davenport, reaching here six days later and residing here ever since. He married Elizabeth Sparrenberger of this city Jul 14 1857, who preceded him from this life Sep 14 1903. The deceased is survived by three children Henry Bornhoeft, Caroline Bornhoeft and Matilda Zeman, all at home, and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. The deceased was a member of the Veterans fireman's Association and of the German-American Pioneers. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home, 2510 Boies St. with interment in the Fairmount cemetery.
