DAVENPORT-Kenneth Berkompas, 92, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 18, 2020 with his wife by his side. A private family service will be held at Weerts Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Kenneth was born in Byron Center, Michigan to Art and Agnes Berkompas. After graduation from high school, he, along with two friends enlisted in the Navy and served until the end of WWII. He was employed with International Harvester for 35 years. After retiring from there, he brought joy and happiness to many folks by delivering flowers for K'nees Floral, followed by 10 years as a Genesis Hospice volunteer. Ken was a loving, gentle man who served his Lord. He loved his family and their summer vacations together. He also enjoyed gardening and yardwork.

Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife, Merle of 71 years; three children, Dennis (Joette) Berkompas, Sandra (Scott) Sheldon, Sue (Dwane) McFerrin; seven grandchildren, Cindi (Jason) Wibben, Jenna (Ben) Bartell, Bryce (Kristal) Berkompas, Nathan (Monica) Sheldon, Darren Sheldon, Ross (Kassie) McFerrin and Kimberly (Ryan) Cyboron; fourteen great grandchildren, Erick, Emily, Mykah, Braxtyn, Kaila, Sophia, Bennett, Alexis, Kayleigh, Emma, Brayden, Easton, Brooklyn and Conor.
