Gerald Duane Grueber, 90, of Davenport passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, March 27, 2020. Services are pending at The Runge Mortuary in Davenport Iowa. Private family time will be spent prior to burial at Davenport Memorial Park. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.

Gerald was born on November 3, 1929 to Herbert and Beulah (Lunn) Grueber in Davenport IA. He married Sally Schlueter on January 26, 1958. They enjoyed 57 years of marital bliss until she preceded him in death on February 21 2015. Gerald proudly served in the U.S. Navy and in the Korean War from 1952-1953.

Gerald retired after 38 years from The United States Postal Service as a postal worker. He was a lifelong member in many organizations; Trinity Lutheran Church, the NRA and Ducks Unlimited. He loved auto racing, especially F1, Indy car and NASCAR. Gerald enjoyed many outdoor activities including fishing and hunting especially his yearly deer hunting trips to Wyoming. He also enjoyed duck hunting at his cabin at Lake Odessa. Many memorable vacations trips with the family at Topsail Beach in North Carolina were spent over the years.

Gerald is lovingly remembered by his son; Martin Grueber of Davenport IA, his daughter; Susan (Chuck) Stanger of Davenport IA, his grandchildren; Isabel Stanger, Sydney Stanger and his springer spaniel/best buddy Cooper. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sally and his sister Greta Iossi.
