DEATH CLAIMS AGED PIONEER OF DAVENPORT
Mrs. Sophie Moravek Was Passenger on the First Train Across Bridge.

Mrs. Sophie Moravek, age 78, a pioneer resident of Davenport and one of the first passengers to cross the Mississippi on the new railway bridge 52 years ago, died at 8:10 o'clock this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R.E. Albrecht, 1015 West Fifteenth street. Death terminated an illness of five months.
Mrs. Moravek was the widow of Vancil Moravek, who died Sept. 22, 1912. She was born in Bohemia, Dec. 7, 1846 and came to America and direct to Davenport with her mother 52 years ago. She had been a member of St. Joseph's church for 50 years. For 38 years she resided at 1653 West Fourth street.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Albrecht, and six sons, Dr. W.F. Moravek, John Moravek, James J. Moravek and Joseph Moravek, all of Davenport, and Aloysius A. Moravek of Bettendorf, and Edwin V. Moravek of Durant. There are 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8:30 o'clock Thursday morning from the Fred N. Ruhl. Funeral home followed at 9 o'clock by services at St. Joseph's church. The burial will be in Holy Family cemetery.
