Dixon, Iowa, Sept. 18--Mrs. Elizabeth Hulett Newhouse, an aged and estimable lady died at her home, one mile south of Big Rock, Iowa, on Saturday afternoon. Deceased was born Aug. 10th, 1839 at East Killingly, Windham county, Conn., and came west with her parents when a girl. She was married to William Newhouse, Sr., of Buena Vista, Clinton county, Iowa, Dec. 20, 1855. They resided on a farm there until the year 1879 when they moved on the farm south of town. To this union were born ten children one of whom died in childhood. Her husband died Jan. 4, 1898. Mrs. Newhouse united with the Christian church of Dixon, Iowa, when a young woman and has always lived a Christian life. She was a loving mother and was kind to the poor and needy. She leaves to mourn her loss one sister, Mrs. Mary Harrington of Plankinton, S.D., and the following children: William Newhouse, Jr., John Newhouse and Miss Maud Newhouse, of Big Rock, Iowa; Mrs. Addie Boyd, Calamus, Iowa; Mrs. Ella Merritt and Mrs. Minnie Holt, Sutherland, Iowa, Mrs. Ollie Holt, Dixon, Iowa; Mrs. Mamie Wilkinson, Cleghorn, Ia.; Mrs. Jessie Benning, DeWitt, Iowa.

The funeral will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock and interment will be made in the Dixon cemetery.
