Mrs. Marian Nelson, 89, former Durant resident, died July 30 at the home of a sister, Mrs. J. C. Petersen in Davenport, following a lingering illness.

Born Dec. 22, 1871, at Davenport, she was the daughter of Carl F. and Anna Kistenmacher. She married Merrill E. Nelson March 4, 1892, at Davenport.

The couple farmed near Wilton Junction and Durant until 1907 when they moved to Durant. Mr. Nelson died in 1932 and Mrs. Nelson continued to live in Durant until 5 years ago when she moved to Davenport.

She was a member of First Christian church, Davenport; the American Legion Auxiliary and Ladies Aid Society, Durant.

Survivors include 2 sons, Robert of Bettendorf and Ralph of Davenport; a sister, Mrs. J. C. Petersen of Davenport; a nephews, Walter Farrance, Marionette, Wis.; 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister.

Funeral services were held Aug. 2 at Durant. Burial was at the Durant cemetery.
