Funeral services for James Michael O'Neal, 73, were held at Big Rock, with the Rev. Charles Mannhardt celebrating the requiem mass. Burial was in St. Patrick's cemetery at Big Rock.
Mr. O'Neal died Sept. 6 at his home in Big Rock after an illness of several months.
He was born Feb. 13, 1877, in Big Rock, son of Mr. and Mrs. John O'Neal, and was married to Elizabeth Knoche at Mechanicsville Feb. 23, 1911.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. J. F. Walsh, Encino, Calif., and Mrs. O. C. Everett, Chicago; a sister, Mrs. James Scanlon, DeWitt; a brother, John, Big Rock, and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, brother, and a grandson.
Mr. O'Neal farmed in the Limerick neighborhood for many years before moving to Big Rock.
