DAVENPORT-Tim A. Conklin, 63, of Davenport, passed away on August 2, 2019. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 12, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. in the Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. Visitation will be from 10-12 at the mortuary. Memorials may be made in Tim's honor to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Muscatine County. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.
Tim was born on June 12, 1956, in Davenport to Frank and Josephine (Lafeber) Conklin. On August 6, 1977, he married Gaylyn DeForest. They went on to enjoy 42 years of marriage. In 2013, he retired from the Rock Island Arsenal after 35 years of service. Tim was a diehard Minnesota Vikings and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. He was very family oriented and was a loving husband and father, but the true loves of his life were his grandchildren.
Those left to cherish Tim's memory include his wife, Gaylyn; daughters, Melissa (Eric) Birkmeier, Cathy (Adam) Hazen; grandchildren: Sophia, Olivia, Hunter, Charlee, and Remi; five surviving sisters, but most especially his oldest sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Joe Johnson; two brothers; nineteen nieces and nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jim Conklin; brother-in-law, Glenn DeForest; grandson, Ethan Birkmeier, and his in-laws, Gail and Loretta DeForest.
