Hugo Mangels, 60, Durant, died at St. Luke's hospital, Davenport, Thursday after a brief illness.

He was born Oct. 28, 1896, in Scott county and married Lene Heydon Aug. 20, 1930, in Davenport.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Pfc. Elmer Mangels in Germany; a daughter, Mrs. Wayne R. Johnson of Davenport; his mother, Mrs. Mary Mangels of Davenport; a sister, Mrs. William Schumaker, of Davenport; two brothers, Richard of Bettendorf and Ernest of Davenport.

Funeral services were held Monday in the Durant chapel, with burial in the Durant cemetery.
