Davenport, Ia., Dec. 24--Julius Lischer, county attorney of Scott county, and one of the most prominent politicians of Iowa, died this morning from a complication of troubles aggravated by active participation in the last campaign.
Julius Lischer was born in Davenport on July 1, 1866. He spent his boyhood years in this city, attending first a German school, and later completing the work of the High School. In 1985 he entered the Iowa University, graduated from the college department in 1888, and from the law department two years later. In 1895 he returned to Davenport and commenced the practice of law in the city, first as a member of the firm of Lischer & Bawden, and later of Lischer Bawden & Neal, having been eminently successful in the practice of his profession. Attorney Lischer was a staunch republican, notwithstanding the fact that he comes of a democratic family, his father, who is the editor of the Daily Democrat, a Davenport publication, and his three brothers, Oscar, Edward and Frederick Lischer, all prominent Davenport newspaper workers, being associated with that political party.
In the year 1898 Lischer was elected county attorney in Scott county, and again in 1900 and in 1902, having no opposition in the last campaign. He was a tireless worker, and a representative citizen, and his death is mourned by many.
Surviving the deceased are his wife and one child.
