BETTENDORF-Martha A. Schieberl, 90, of Bettendorf passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Unity Point, Bettendorf with her family by her side.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Humane Society of Scott County or to the Bettendorf Public Library.
Martha was born on April 3, 1929 in Munich, Germany, the daughter of Konrad and Margarete (Meier) Medicus. She met her husband, Emrel, while he was stationed in Germany during World War II. She came to the United States to be united in marriage on her birthday, April 3, 1948. She was a featured war bride on the Pat Sundeen show and in the Quad City Times. Martha retired from Brammer Manufacturing in 1991 after 27 years of service. She enjoyed gardening, reading, playing cards, and swimming in her pool.
Those left to honor her memory are her daughters, Lynda Arndt of Bettendorf, Rhonda (Guy) Carnahan of Coal Valley, Illinois; her son, Jeff (Sharon) Schieberl of Bettendorf; son-in-law, Frank Arguello of Bettendorf; sister, Erna Meier of Munich, Germany; sister-in-law, Hanni Medicus; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and one on the way; 3 great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; her rescue dog, Annie and turtle, Fred.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Emrel; daughter, Deborah Arguello; granddaughter, Shannon Arguello; brother, Konrad Medicus; twin sister, Lore Medicus; and son-in-law, John Arndt.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Unity Point – Bettendorf ER and ICU staff, especially Aubrey and Jen, for their exceptional care.
