A funeral service for Ronald A. Rekemeyer, 72, of Blue Grass, was held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 8, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Davenport. Burial was in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday, April 7, from 3-6 p.m. at the Runge Mortuary, Davenport.
Mr. Rekemeyer died Tuesday, April 2, 2019.
Ronald Rekemeyer was born April 9, 1946, in Bennett, the son of Jack and Alverna (Goettsch) Rekemeyer. He graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1964.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam, where he received a Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged in 1971.
He married Helen Tadder in 1966. He later married Rita Cawiezell in Davenport in 1986.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Davenport, and the Blue Grass American Legion.
His hobbies were hunting, fishing, woodworking, gardening, going to auctions, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife; his children, Mike (Deanna) Rekemeyer, Davenport, Yvonne (Gary) DeGreve, Bettendorf, Yvette (Mike) Sippel, Fox Lake, Ill., Rob (Jenni) Mohr, Chisago City, Minn., and Sonya Mohr, Davenport; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Peggy; and a twin brother, Richard.
He was preceded in death by two children, Doug and Theresa.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran School.
