Brammer.
At the family home, 929 Harrison street, on Friday evening, occurred the death of Detlef Brammer, one of the oldest and well-know citizens of Davenport. The fatal ailment was a complication of stomach and kidney trouble.
The deceased was born in Rendsburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Aug. 9, 1837, and came to American at the age of 18 years, settling at once in Davenport, where he has resided continuously ever since. At the outbreak of the civil war he enlisted in the Union army and served his adopted country faithfully and well throughout the struggle. For years he was proprietor of the St. Louis House, at one time a leading hotel in this city, and later he engaged in the hardware business.
He was a prominent member of the Davenport Turngemeinde and also the Schuetzenverein. He was at the time of his death 66 years, 3 months and 3 days of age. He is survived by his wife, Mary Brammer, and four children--Julius, Mrs. Minnie Yilckens, Laura and Mrs. Emma Behrens of Milwaukee. The funeral will be held from the family residence at 2 o'clock this afternoon and the interment will be at Oakdale.
