I recently found this mention of his death and ask that you add it to his bio:
From the Cedar Rapids Times of Thursday July 20, 1882
W.H. HEWITT, proprietor of the Park Place Hotel, at Marion, was found dead in a sewer at Omaha on Saturday last. It is supposed that he fell over an embankment into the sewer, striking his head on some hard substance rendering him insensible, and that he rolled into the shallow water, where he was found. He was in Omaha on business connected with land, owned by him in that vicinity. Mr. Hewitt came to Marion from Davenport several years ago, and was connected with the street railway in its early history.
