Anna Schoel was born September 17, 1849 at Schleiswig-Holstein, Germany to Jurgen Schoel and Catharine Margaretha Wohlgehagen.

She married Christian Wenntorf (Wendorf) at Schleiswig-Holstein, Germany. No children.

The couple left Germany on March 25, 1885 to emigrate to America. They traveled with her sister and husband, Caroline and Johann Christian Arp, Caroline's children and a nephew, Julius Arp.

The ship arrived in New York City, New York on April 15, 1885. The group then took a train to Davenport, Scott, Iowa where Christian and Anna started farming.

Found in the 1895 - 1905 censuses living at Davenport, Scott, Iowa:
1895: Anna Wenntorf age 44

1905: Chris Wenntorf, Anna Wenntorf (no ages given).

Anna Wenntorf died on October 31, 1912 at Davenport, Scott, Iowa and was buried on November 3, 1912 at the Fairmount Cemetery, Davenport, Scott, Iowa.

There is a memorial for her at Find a Grave #137202540 with a photo of her gravestone.

Note: Have found discrepancies on Anna's birth date and surname spellings but am using the death record and gravestone information as the most accurate. Her spouse, Christian Wenntorf, remarried later to a widow named Emma Putzier. They are also buried at Fairmount Cemetery.
