The Davenport (IA) Democrat and Leader; Monday Evening, February 2, 1925; p. 13, col. 2:

Mrs. Johanna Martin, 1012 Kirkwood Boulevard, died at her home this morning at 1:30 o’clock. Death terminated an illness of three months duration.

The deceased was born October 14, 1870 in Scott county, and has lived here all her life. For 30 years she resided on a farm five miles east of Eldridge moving to Davenport and the present residence in Davenport Thursday of last week. She was the wife of the late Thomas W. Martin, who preceded her in death on March 15, 1913.

Surviving are three sons, Thomas, John, and James, an adopted son, Edward Maher, one daughter, Marie, all at home, two brothers, John Doyle of Mechanicsville, Ia., and William Doyle of Eldridge, a half brother, Charles McDonald of Massena, Ia., one sister, Mrs. Gus Bickel of Eldridge, Ia., and two half sisters, Mrs. Mary Brushy of Long Grove, and Mrs. T. V. Duffy of Grand Mound, Ia.

The body was taken to the Fred N. Ruhl funeral home from where it will be removed to the residence for funeral services Wednesday morning at eight o’clock with services at St. Ann church in Long Grove at 9:30 o’clock. Interment will take place in St. Ann cemetery.
