The Davenport (IA) Democrat & Leader; Wednesday Evening, June 1, 1927; p. 21, col. 2:

Timothy Maher, who has been confined at Mercy hospital for the past three months died there at 1:20 a.m. today. He had been ailing for two years previous to removal to the hospital.

He was born in Petersboro, Canada on Aug. 15, 1853 coming to the United States as a child. For many years he had resided at Grand Mound, the late home and was a carpenter by trade.

Surviving are seven sisters, Mrs. Hannah Hamilton of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Elizabeth Dwyer of Walpole, Mass., Mrs. Bridget Lee of Denver, Mrs. Mary Frederick of Humboldt, Kan., Mrs. Nell McCurdy of Lincoln, Neb., Miss Catherine Maher of Tecumseh, Nebr., and Miss Anna Maher of Dubuque, Ia; and one brother, Margon [sic - Morgan] Maher of Manley, Neb.

The funeral will be held at 8 a.m. Friday from the Halligan funeral home to St. Phillip and St. James church at Grand Mound. Interment will be made in Calvary cemetery there.

The funeral of Timothy Maher was held this morning from the Halligan funeral home to St. Phillip and James church at Grand Mount [sic], Ia. The Rev. O. J. Small celebrated requiem high mass, pronounced the burial absolution, and preached the funeral sermon. He also officiated at the committal services in Calvary cemetery at Grand Mound.

Pall bearers were John McMahon, Robert Quinn, Joseph Dalton, John Martin, Thomas Duffy and Thomas Lynch.
