Davenport, Ia., Dec. 13 - William J. Corner, 87, Civil war veteran, mathematician and said to be the oldest member of the United Commercial Travelers, died late yesterday. He had been ill ten days.

For a number of years he conducted the 'mathematics' department of a column in a local newspaper under the pen name of "Renroc."
